Productivity, Industrial Capacity, Factory Employment – Tamilnadu aces it all!

  • Coal is still one of the dominant power resources. A good many of our rivers are seasonal. And therefore, we are prone to water shortages. But all these impediments have never been able to stop our progress.
  • There are 3 indices to measure an economy – Gross Domestic Product, number of industries, the employment opportunities created by such industries. All 3 indices paint a golden picture for Tamilnadu. The Gross Domestic Product of Tamilnadu is $260 billion, which when converted to Indian Rupees is Rs 18 lakh crores. This is India’s second highest GDP.
  • As for the industrial progress, Tamilnadu leads in that too. We have 38,000 industries and factories functioning here. Maharashtra runs second with 28,000 industries. The next index would be the employment opportunities created by such industries. Tamilnadu tops the country in this aspect too. Currently, the employment opportunities that have been created by industries are 24 lakhs.
