Strong Medical Infrastructure

  • Next to education, health care is the one sector that impacts lives directly. Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) is a reliable measure to judge the health care of a region. The sadness the parents undergo when their infant dies is immeasurable. Despite minimal support from the Central Government, Tamilnadu upped its medical facilities to bring down IMR.
  • To verify this, let us take the IMR data of Tamilnadu, for 2008 and 2016. The IMR in 2008 was 31 per year. In 2016, the IMR dropped down to 17 per year. India’s IMR in 2016 was 34. When we compare the IMR of Tamilnadu and India, we can see how focused Tamilnadu is on bringing down the IMR.
