Tamilnadu Overtakes Maharashtra in Industrial Employment Opportunities

  • An industry is not just a place that manufactures or produces things. There’s an entire ecosystem built around it. If an industry employs 100 workers, it is not just the 100 workers who benefit from it. Their 400 dependents also stand to benefit from it. This is why industries are considered the base of economic growth.
  • In terms of employment opportunities created by industrial development, Tamilnadu tops the nation. Currently, the employment opportunities that have been created by industries are 24 lakhs. Maharashtra’s number of employment opportunities created by industries is 20 lakhs. Gujarat is at the third place with 18 lakh industrial employment opportunities. The rest are not even on a comparable scale with Tamilnadu. Their numbers are broadly under 10 lakhs.
